Depends: If you are having a full abdominal surgery with intestinal removal, then a few days in the hospital and 6 week recovery with gradual increasing activities would be common. If it is only an operation for repairing or revising an ileostomy, then it would be a shorter surgery and return to home the same day with quicker return to normal. If the surgery is laparoscopic, then recovery would be faster.
