Depression: Not necessarily. Unipolar depression can be recurrent. Recurrent can be any type, unipolar, bipolar or mixed type.

Depression: A depressive disorder can be unipolar (no maniac, hypomania or mixed states) or it can be part of a bipolar disorder. Recurrent depressive disorder just means that there are multiple episodes of depression.
