Hypersensitivity : Stevens-johnson syndrome & toxic epidermal necrolysis are thought to represent the same disease at different levels of severity. Both are immune mediated hypersensitivity reaction to drugs, infection, malignancy or unknown causes (idiopathic). The illness involves the skin & the mucous membranes. Significant & life threatening systemic involvement can occur in the course of the illness.
