Special: Lupus patients ususally have a positive antinuclear antiibody and the bad cses a positive ati double stranded dna antibiody. The latter increase risk of kidney damage. It helps to get examined by a rheumatologist as there are some false positive tests.

ANA: Anti-nuclear antibody test (ANA) to determine if autoantibodies to cell nuclei are present in the blood. Anti-dna antibody test to determine if there are antibodies to the genetic material in the cell. Anti-smith antibody test to determine if there are antibodies to sm, which is a ribonucleoprotein found in the cell nucleus.
