What it sounds like: Basically an enema of a colostomy (usually left sided, descending or sigmoid colon- solid stool present). Get info and training from your ostomy nurse.

Flushing the colon : Periodic colostomy irrigation may be necessary in some patients to evacuate the colon completely. This involves placing a catheter into the colostomy and give an enema( may use warm tap water).
