Depends: There is no correct answer. Hopefully with rest, ice, compression with an ace bandage, and antiinflammatories, your pain will rapidly decrease. If not, see a physician.

Decrease inflammatio: Depends on cause but usually 3 weeks is all that is needed for inflammation to decrease.
