No short answer: There are literally hundreds of primary bone or systemic (whole body) disorders that can affect bone formation, metabolism, maintenance. There are just as many benign and malignant tumors that can arise in or affect bone. Expertise in bone diseases crosses many specialties as well quite a few textbooks.
