Carcinogens: Known carcinogens include alcohol, tobacco, poorly-preserved meats, high-fat diets, ionizing radiation, asbestos, benzidine, etc. In addition, there are many chemicals that have been implicated yet not definitively proven to cause cancer. Looking at it from an epidemiological perspective, cancers that were very rare only 100 years ago are now quite common: cancer is a byproduct of our modern world.
