Bone spurs: Posterior osteophytic spurs of the cervical spine are bone spurs around the back of the disc space and in front of the spinal cord. They are normal findings in age related degenerative disease but they may cause pressure on the spinal cord or nerve roots. Pressure on a nerve may cause pain, weakness or numbness. Spinal cord compression may cause pain and loss of coordination or other symptoms.
