Peginfr/riba/protinh: The new standard of care for untreated hep c, and for relapse, or failed rx in the past is a combination of pegylated interferon (longer acting than regular/better tolefrance too), ribavirin, and one of two new ly approved drugs, both protease inhibitors (antiviral), telapravir and bocepravir. Different rx schedules. Both have improved success rates.

Interferon+ribavirin: Right now, everyone who has hepatitis c (outside clinical trials) gets treated with pegylated interferon (once a week injections) plus Ribavirin (pills). People with genotype 1 hcv also get a protease inhibitor (like telaprevir or boceprevir) to increase cure rates. There are over 50 drugs in development for hcv so this field is moving very quickly.
