See below: Washing hands well. Not sitting next to the person who is sneezing & coughing. People who are having problems with coughing during flu season are usually asked to don a mask while in the waiting room - which should help some.

All that, plus......: Keep your hands away from your face. That way, even if you touch something, you won't transmit it to your eyes, nose, mouth. Use sanitizer gels frequently when out in the public. And most important get your flu shot.
