Yes: It is possible to have some distance vision and some near vision and still need glasses to get your best corrected vision. These terms are confusing and really just refer to where the light focuses on the retina. Also losing reading vision after 40 yrs of age is a separate problem called presbyopia. This sometimes gets confused with the other issues.
