"General" Surgeons: Appendicitis is a common operation for general surgeons. So much so, that it is amazing that our species survived the millennium. Very few people ever die of appendicitis in the modern world. Now-a-days, i would venture to say that laparoscopic appendectomy is the common operation to remove the appendix. Antibiotics are used more often in europe, and with obama care, we may see this in the us.
