Depends: There are many factors that survival depends on. These include other medical conditions, rapidity to treatment, the specific pathogen causing the sepsis, ability to use certain medications (e.g. Allergy restrictions), social history (smoking, drugs), etc.

Depends...: Survival depends, in general, on age and disease severity. In general, the older the patient, the more severe the infection as well as the more organ systems involved with the illness, the higher the morbidity and mortality rate.
