Can you explain a sacrocolpopexy for prolapse?

Support surgery: Sacrocolpopexy is a surgery that supports the vagina using mesh. The mesh is connected to the sacrum, which is the back part of the pelvis and the lowest portion of the spinal column. The surgery can be done laparoscopically, usually with robotic assistance. It can also be done through an open incision, such as the one used for a c-section.

Vaginal support: Sacrocolpopexy is an operation that helps with support of the top of the vagina. Usually y shaped mesh is attached to the front and back of the vagina and then brought up to the sacral promontory and attached. It is the "gold standard" for long term support of the top of the vagina. Can be done robotically, laparoscopically, or through an abdominal incision.
