Exactly how does rogaine (minoxidil) work to cause hair growth?

Two ways: Minoxidil makes hair follicles wider so your hair is thicker. It also increases the growth phase of your hair so that you grow longer hair and more strands of hair. Unfortunately, this isn't a permanent one time only treatment. You need to continue using Minoxidil to maintain your hair growth.
