Deadly serious: Mutual support helps. Consider attending a meeting of narcotics anonymous.

Serious as Death: Its extremely serious. Prescription narcotic abuse kills more people that heroin/cocaine abuse. Narcotics are meant to be short term use. Are there some rare exceptions? Of course. Patients with metastatic cancer or burn patients are examples. But even there, it requires an expert touch to avoid doing more harm than good.
