What is the difference between optic neuropathy and retinal artery occulsion?

Related issues: Optic neuropathy is a generic term referring to damage to the optic nerve from any cause including trauma, decreased blood flow, or genetic disease. Retinal artery occlusion is a blockage in the artery feeding the retina, which leads to damage or death of the retinal nervous tissue. A central retinal artery occlusion can cause an optic neuropathy.
