A member asked:

What is it if somebody has chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

CIDP: This is an immune disorder of the peripheral nervous system, and involves an attack of the myelin coverings of mainly the motor nerves, but can be seen occasionally affecting sensory fibers also. Cidp can be controlled with steroids or ivig, but relapses can occur, and lifelong treatment is often required.
