A member asked:

How would a patch test distinguish between a latex allergy and other clothing or fabric allergies?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Reaction to allergen: Patch testing is designed to help identify a potential allergic skin reaction to common suspected allergens. The allergens are applied to the back and covered. 48 hrs later the patches are removed and any reaction noted. A 2nd reading is then performed 24-48hrs later. The intensity and duration of the reaction helps identify positive reactions.
