Pharmacology: If you take oral medicines on an empty stomach, they're absorbed more quickly. If you take them with a hot drink (eg tea), the pills, tablets or capsules dissolve more quickly allowing the active ingredient to enter the circulation more quickly. Some medicines work better if their onset is gradual so you should discuss this with the prescriber. Im and IV drugs work faster than oral meds.
