A member asked:

I have had interstital cystitis for yrs & undifferentiated connective tissue disease--(not tied down to diagnosis yet). do you think they are related?

It is a possibility: Although there isn't much is known about the cause of interstitial cystitis, it is a result of inflammation (unkown cause) of the bladder and/or urethral area. Mixed (undifferentiated) connective tissue disease is also an inflammatory condition of various tissues, including bladder etc..So, it is possible that the 2 r related, but relationship is not well-defined, yet. Consult your doc. Good luck.

They are not.: But interstital cystitis is not uncommon and would be as likely to occur in a patient with undifferentiated ctd.
