Best to avoid: There are many different stages of severity for venous stasis ulcers and many differences in the amount of chlorine and potential bacteria & contaminants in a pool. Swimming is generally a good thing but i don't recommend taking a dip until a dr sees you who can evaluate your specific case and condition. Better to avoid for now also to prevent contaminating the pool if the wound is draining.

No: Open wounds in a public swimming pool is discouraged for public health reasons. If it is your pool, then subjecting the ulcer to chlorine should not influence the healing process.

Would advise against: The biggest concern I have about swimming in chlorinated water if you have an ulcer is that chlorine is very drying. Drying out the would can actually cause more damage to the tissue and slow down the healing process. It can actually make your ulcer enlarge. Even if you try to cover and seal it, you probably aren't going to be able to keep the chlorine water out.

No: You should not get that ulcer wet , also there may be some blood at the base of the ulcer and that is hazardous to other people using the same pool.

Swimming: No it is not safe for you nor, if this is a public pool, safe for anyone else. In addition, with most scenarios that i can think of, y discuss this issue with your wound specialist or podiatrist.

Swimming and ulcer: I would not advise swimming in a pool with an open ulcer whether it is your private pool or a public pool. The water can macerate the ulcer making it more difficult to heal. In addition to this, the ulcer most likely has bacteria within it even if it is your natural skin bacteria. These ulcers heal by aggresive local skin care as well as treating the underlying cause of the problem.
