Depends on patient: These are questions to be discussed with one's physician since one's age, weight, & physical condition influence how one is medicated & managed during & after the procedure. The surgeon may decide to use conscious sedation instead of general anesthesia. The doc will also advise which meds should or should not be taken the day of procedure.

It Depends: Age, physical condition, weight and co-existing medical problems determine what preparation, and type of anesthetic, is best for a doppler-guided hemorrhoidal artery ligation (dghal). Speak to your personal physician for suggestions and to share decisions about your care plan.
