Probably lidocaine: It depends on the setting and reasons for use but lidocaine is often used for a variety of situations. It acts fast, does not last too long. The toxic dose of lidocaine is high as compared to other anesthetics and therefore more of it can be used, everything else being equal. It is not used as often for intrathecal injections as it can cause a severe transient neuropathy.
