Baby or contraction?: A "rock hard" uterus is one we commonly think is contracting. Movement of the baby into a new position can cause the uterus to feel more firm also (eg, if baby's back lies along the curve of mom's abdominal wall). If there's pain, contractions, other concerns, it's important to contact OB provider or go to labor and delivery for evaluation and monitoring, especially since a 35-week baby is preterm.
