A member asked:

Please explain va rating for peripheral arterial disease.?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No well known ones..: The va does not have a published criteria that the community of vascular surgeons uses to rate or quantify pad. There are two systems that are used traditionally. They are the fontaine and rutherford classifications. They are based on patient symptoms and the presence of arterial ulcers on the feet. Blockages themselves are scored with a system called tasc that is designed for doctors to compare.
