A member asked:

Does mydriasis damage inner eyes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Mydriasis means the pupil is dilated. It is a normal function of the pupil. Dilating eye drops will cause extreme mydriasis for a short time without any lasting side effects. Nerve damage or eye trauma can cause longer lasting or permanent mydriasis. The retina is exposed to more light, but this doesn't generally cause damage, unless it is intense and sustained, which is painful.
