Artificial cornea: In advanced corneal disease, sometimes standard techniques for corneal replacement like grafting will not work. The keratoprosthesis is a device which has a clear central window and attached synthetics which allow integration into normal eye tissue. It is used in extreme cases and has helped restore vision in desperate cases.
