What is the purpose of catecholamines tests?

Extra production?: The most common reason why the test is ordered is to see if your body is making too much catecholamines. If the test is positive, you might need an imaging study (ct scan, mibg, mri...) to see whether or not a tumor (adrenal) is doing this.
