Nearsightedness: Nearsightedness (myopia) is a condition where the optical system of the eye is too powerful for the length of the eye. This results in images being focused in front of the part of the eye that senses light (the retina). People with this condition see close up but not far away. The condition is treated with glasses, contact lenses, laser eye surgery (lasik, prk) or phakic iol.
