A member asked:

How can you correct the underlying cause of glycosuria?

Yes and no: If the glycosuria is caused by diabetes, obviously controlling the diabetes will correct the glycosuria. Glycosuria can also occur in some people without diabetes - it is a problem with the way the kidneys handle glucose. This condition is called renal glycosuria, is perfectly benign, and requires no treatment.

Usually: Glycosuria, or sugar in the urine, is typically caused by uncontrolled diabetes. If severe kidney damage has not occurred, this will typically improve when the blood sugars are under tighter control.
