A member asked:

Why does hyperglycemia cause glycosuria?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Osmosis: High sugar in the blood is filtered through osmosis, by the kidney, into the urine, causing glycosuria. This results in an "osmotic diuresis" in which there is an increased volume of urine, leading to dehydration.
