What are the side effects of getting chemical peels?

Color changes: The most serious and undesirable side effects are changes in skin color - in other words lighter or darker skin. It usually goes away, but not always. Always apply sunscreen religiously after peels. Other possible side effects include stinging & burning, redness, crusting, and (rarely) infection. All are usually preventable by following post-peel directions and applying sunscreen daily.
