Usually none.: Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is oral progesterone, modified so it's not just digested in the stomach. It is used to control menstrual bleeding. Rarely, someone has mood changes, like depression, while taking it. Depo-provera, which is a shot, is different because it's a much bigger dose. It can cause weight gain.

When given for 12 days, the menstrual period will usually begin on the frist or second day after completing the 12 day cycle.
