Discuss with MD: This is an issue which your surgeon is knowledgeable. Discuss with your doctor your wishes for reducing dependance on glasses after surgery, and he/she can discuss the options with you. There are many viable options to choose from, including multifocal implants, toric implants, and planned monovision (one eye sees better for distance, and the other eye for near). Glasses still may be required.

Talk to your doctor: Deciding on the type of intraocular lens to have implanted during cataract surgery depend on many factors. Not all patients are candidates for al types of lenses. You need to determine how the different lens options presented to you best fit into your lifestyle. You should discuss all these options with your ophthalmologist.
