HBP and renal failur: High blood pressure itself can cause renal failure, but some meds used to treat hypertension can also have effects on the kidneys. These include diuretics, ace inhibitors, and arb's. The changes in renal function can be due to lowering the blood pressure or due to the meds themselves.
