Is the percentage of my body fat important for health?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Body fat: A body mass index (bmi) should be < 30 for health reasons. The two main causes of high bmi are a lot of muscle mass (usually a good healthy thing) or a lot of body fat, usually not a very healthy condition. % body fat, respectively, for women and men: athletes 14–20% 6–13%; fit persons 21–24%, 14–17%; average 25–31% 18–24%; obese 32%+ 25%+.
