A member asked:

What causes cts and who is likely to develop it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A variety of things: We can see this during pregnancy, with repetitive trauma, thyroid disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, infiltratetive conditions. These conditions cause increasing tissue enlargement around the median nerve in the carpal tunnel of the wrist. This is caused by the carpal bones in the wrist, which form a tight curved tunnel through which the median nerve travels. Since it is bone is tight and swelling compresses.
