Depersonalization: This has a wide range of severity. It can range from sporadic and fleeting experiences in youth -- which are quite common -- all the way to the severe and disabling pathological depersonalization disorder. It can accompany other conditions like generalized anxiety or obsessive-compulsive disorder. Emotional abuse in childhood may also predispose to both the nonclinical and pathological forms.
