O-tips: I think one of the most important ideas that you can teach your children is that wax in the ear is healthy and should not be compulsively cleaned with instruments such as a q-tip. The use of q-tips is one of the most common causes of impacted wax and is not easy to remove unless it is softened with hydrogen peroxide. Wax is anti-bacterial and lubricates the skin of the outer ear canal.
