No: What viitamin b1 or thiamine does is to prevent a bad consequence of not eating as is seen in chronic alcoholics who don't eat and who just drink alcohol called: wernicke-korsakoff syndrome. The vit. B injection will not/does not prevent dts or delirium tremens. Many think the shakes are dts, but technically that is not true. Dts are uncommon late stage symptoms and consist of hallucinations.
