Currently on verapamil 480mg to control afib. still having some afib episodes. my doc wants me to take a low dose beta blocker too. is that safe?

Maybe: It depends on what your resting heart rate is on the verapamil. 480mg is already a decent dose and i suspect in "normal mode" your heart rate is relatively slow ~ 60? With the beta-blocker you will slow down the heart rate in afib, but might lower your resting heart rate too much in the process. How symptomatic are you with the afib episodes? How fast is the heart rate? Consider ablation?
