I have just been for my first ultrasound at 6 weeks. they couldnt find the baby's heartbeat. is my baby dead or just too small to feel the heart beat?

Either: At 6 weeks the bab's heart beat might be too early to see. A repeat us in a week , the heart beat should be seen.

Just too small: It will be seen at your next ultrasound.

Depends: On age of pregnancy. Fetal heart may be heard earlier by OB depending on method of listening. With a fetal sthetoscope it may be heard as early as 20 weeks.
