Usually not RA.: Myositis can be associated with several types of autoantibodies: anti-jo1 antibodies are a type of anti-nuclear antibody. Anti-srp antibodies are mainly associated with, but are not specific for, polymyositis. The ccp antibody is most specific for ra. Keep in mind that certain meds for RA also work in myositis, such as Methotrexate and steroids.

It depends: Anti jo-1 is associated with a type of myositis that often has a type of skin condition called mechanics hands and a lung condition called interstitial lung disease associated with it. Its possible that you have RA and the anti jo-1 is a false positive. However sometimes these conditions overlap. Some have an ra-like condition that overlaps with myositis. Ask a rheumatologist.
