SSRIs may help: Imbalances in the level of the neurotransmitter, serotonin, is associated with anxiety, but there is more in the gut than in the brain. Often, antidepressant/antianxiety medicines, such as zoloft, celexa, lexapro, (escitalopram) etc, which help anxiety also help intestinal symptoms.

Second opinion: No individual advice can be given here but if one is already under care the first step is to ensure persisting severe symptoms or lack of progress is addressed, then follow up should be the next step, even with a second opinion. Meds + psychotherapy are more successful than either alone, but often with anxiety, cog-behavioral approaches can result in eventual d/c of meds. Discuss options.
