Depends: Most cases can be treated medically. If the problem is severe, surgery may be advisable. Injection of alcohol into a coronary artery branch is an alternative to surgery. Which approach is better remains to be seen.

Sometimes: It depends on the severity of the lesion, and if it is treatable or not, by other modalities. Sometimes surgery is the only way to take care of it.

See a specialist: Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) can often be treated with medication, limiting strenuous exercise, screening for arrhythmia risk, and genetic counseling. When symptoms are severe despite medication, myectomy surgery or transcatheter alcohol ablation are considered. Discuss with a doctor who sees a lot of this.
