Aspartame is ok: If one needs to be on a low-carb diet, also loves sweets, plus and doesn't fear artificial sweeteners, then canderel is fine to use. Canderel contains aspartame, so is like equal or nutrasweet. Aspartame is very common in diet sodas and other artificially sweetened foods. Aspartame had been around for many years, before splenda arrived (splenda is a different artificial sweetener).

Artificial sweetener: I would avoid artificial sweetenets as much as possible as they add to your sugar cravings although they are calorie free and some may spike insulin.
