Culture first: I suggest a fungal culture before starting any treatment. Nail fungus usually requires oral medication such as lamisil (terbinafine). Liver functions must be monitored as well while taking the medication, which often requies 3 to 6 months of treatment.

Several things: You can elect to have the nail removed either on a permanent basis, or non-permanent basis. Once removed start using a topical antifungal you can try oral prescription lamisil you can find a podiatrist for the newer laser fungal nail treatment.
