Who do i go see for my 8 yr old who stares but doesn't have spasms?

Staring spells: You should see a neurologist as you probably need to rule out seizures. Does your chilkd rewspond to you at that time? Does he have any other symptoms during, beofre or after the staring and how long does it last?

Start with your doc: If this kid has petit mal, as your story would suggest, your doc can set up the studies needed to make an initial diagnosis. S/He will also know what resources are available for referral if s/he is not comfortable managing the problem.
